Saturday of my very first week I got the chance to get to know the city a bit when we went on a "scavenger hunt". It was a very chilly January morning and we met in Plaza Mayor. Susan and Gabriela, two directors of USAC Madrid, split us up into groups and gave us sheets with 3 destinations to find in the city with questions about each destination.

Here's Plaza Mayor. The Christmas decorations still hadn't been taken down. |
Plaza Oriental next to the Royal Palace. |

This is a really funny looking street performer. He's sitting inside that pack with only his arms and legs sticking out. I would've gotten a better picture but he was scolding other people for taking pictures of him. Haha. |
The next place, Plaza de Toros, was actually the third place we went to. The second place we went to was a food market, I just didn't get any pictures there for some reason.
Plaza de Toros. This is Madrid's bullfighting ring. It is pretty impressive! |
Me posing on the statue, haha. |

My two scavenger hunt partners, Anni (L) and Ashley (R). |
It says: Puerta de Cuadrillas. Puerta is "door" but we couldn't really figure out what cuadrillas is. |
Iside the Puerta de Cuadrillas. |

Ok, a rack of notebooks is kind of an odd picture to put at the end of this post, but when we were done with the scavenger hunt, Anni and I went shopping. I was looking for notebooks for class. We literally went on every floor of El Corte Ingles (department store) and then finally found them on the basement floor! |
Buuuut the thing you should know about most notebooks here is that they're graph paper not lined paper. |
