Hello everyone!! I feel like this is a bit of a stereotypical thing to do, start a blog I mean, but I couldn't think of a better way to keep in touch with everyone while I study abroad in Spain next semester! Yes! If you didn't know, I'm about to spend the next four months of my college career in Madrid, Spain! I know, crazy right? I can hardly believe it myself.
This whole thing started in high school (don't worry I'm not going to monologue at you or write a book)… I had really been interested in foreign languages but I had NEVER had a desire to learn Spanish. Welp, guess what the only foreign language was that Highland offered? Spanish. So, I took it. Year one. Meh. I liked it alright. Years 2-4....amazing!! I just have to give a shout out to Kay Penix for being the best Spanish teacher, nay, the best teacher I ever had. I fell in love with learning. In June 2008 I actually went to Spain (granted, it was only for 10 days). And the rest?...well, the rest is about to happen.
I'm leaving in exactly 32 days and 13 hours (thank you count-down widget). And I am pumped/extremely nervous/ready to die from the excitement. Below is (I'm assuming) what part of my campus looks like. (I just googled the university and grabbed a pic!). As you can probably guess, I'm incredibly nervous about being dumped into a Spanish-only environment. I'm really excited about this too, though. I feel like I need something like this to take my speaking to the next level! (That doesn't mean I'm not going to study my brains out for the next few weeks so I don't feel like an absolute idiot when I get there! Lol!)
Feel free to ask me questions (and give me advice!) I'm so excited to embark on this experience and I'd love for you to share it with me by viewing my blog. If you have any blogging advice I'll take that too, because I'm incredibly new at this!
Love,
Abby
P.S. - I'm using Abby instead of Abigail because that's what my Cuban professor calls me and I have a feeling a lot of people will call me that in Spain since it's a lot easier to say in Spanish than Abigail, so I'm going to try and get used to it now! :-)
